Projekt si klade za cíl zkoumat, do jaké míry jsou „hranice“ i nadále důležitou součástí literárního diskurzu v německojazyčné literatuře po r. 2000, jak jsou koncipovány a jaké koncepty jejich překračování prozaická a dramatická díla nabízejí.

S pádem tzv. železné opony v roce 1989 byly hranice mezi Východem a Západem překonány v rovině politické. Zůstává však otázkou, do jaké míry hrají roli i nadále pro vnímání Evropy jako kulturní a společensko-politické entity a její identity. Předmětem zkoumání je německá a rakouská literatura 21. století (tj. literatura států geograficky ležících na pomyslné bývalé hranici mezi Východem a Západem) a otázka, do jaké míry je tato hranice v novém tisíciletí v současné literatuře reflektována. Výzkum se zaměří na (de)konstrukci a překračování hranic v prozaické a dramatické tvorbě v rovině tematické, formální i jazykové, a také na otázku, zda a jakou roli hrají hranice a jejich překračování ve vzájemném literárním transferu mezi českým a německojazyčným prostředím.

Jako oblasti výzkumu byly stanoveny tři základní oblasti:

  1. Evropa a její vnější hranice (migrace a uprchlická krize, západ versus východ, sever versus jih).
  2. Evropa a její vnitřní hranice (Západ versus Východ, migrace v obou směrech).
  3. Německo-české a rakousko-české hranice (tematicky, formálně/ jazykově, recepce těchto literárních děl v českém kulturním prostředí)

Our collective goal is to examine, in a number of predefined contexts, the extent to which the topos of ‘borders’ continues to be an important aspect of literary discourse in German-language literature after 2000, how it is variously constructed, and what conceptual tools it offers for crossing them.

With the fall of the Iron Curtain in 1989, the borders between East and West were overcome in the political sphere. However, the question remains to what extent they continue to play a role in the perception of Europe as a cultural and socio-political entity and its identity. The subject of this study is 21st century German and Austrian literature (i.e. the literature of states geographically situated on the imaginary former border between East and West) and the question to what extent this border is reflected in contemporary literature in the new millennium. The research will focus on the (de)construction and crossing of borders in prose and dramatic works in terms of thematic, formal and linguistic aspects, as well as on the question of whether and what role borders and their crossing play in the mutual literary transfer between the Czech and German-speaking environments.

Three basic areas have been identified as areas of ​​research:

  1. Europe and its external borders (migration and the refugee crisis, West versus East, North versus South)
  2. Europe and its internal borders (West versus East, migration in both directions)
  3. The German-Czech and Austrian-Czech borders (thematically, formally/linguistically, reception of these literary works in the Czech cultural environment)
